Metallica released their sophomore effort Ride the Lightning, a bonafide thrash gem replete with thunderous riffs, booming drums, beautifully crafted melodies, and killer solos.

The follow-up to 1983’s Kill ‘Em All showcased the band’s growth as musicians and songwriters with more complex music and deeper lyrical themes. From start to finish the album is relentless in its approach and takes no prisoners. It’s a roller coaster of an album and without a doubt an example of classic thrash. If you haven’t heard this record before I suggest you do yourself a favor and hit play below. Be warned, you will feel an irresistible urge to headbang and headbang hard. So make sure you have some Advil or something in your medicine cabinet.
