Puerto Rican metal band Puya have successfully crowdfunded their upcoming live album. The group started a campaign via Kickstarter that is now closed but managed to raise over their goal of $10,000. The album was recorded at the Bahia Urbana Amphitheater in San Juan PR on Feb 8th.

Hi everyone!
We are in the middle of mixing and mastering PUYA’s new live album right now! It was recorded at Bahia Urbana Amphitheater in San Juan Puerto Rico on February 8th 2014, and it is hands down our best live recording to date. We will be releasing this album on our own with the strength of our combined efforts. Many of you, our fans, have been with us since we started over 2 decades ago, and some of you are new to PUYA. You have listened to our music, come to our shows, and hung out with us. The love that we have always felt from all of you over the years has been overwhelming. From our days of playing clubs in Puerto Rico and South Florida in the early 90’s, to mayor tours such as Ozzfest ’99, Red Hot Chilipeppers (Californication, South America), Iron Maiden (Ed Hunter, US), Sepultura (Nation, US/Canada), Kiss (Psycho Circus, PR), Snocore 2000 (US) among many others…
We are working hard to put out our best live recording ever and we call on you to join us in this project. Together, we will make this happen! Your pledge will allow us to cover some production expenses so we can get it finished and out of the oven ASAP. We can’t wait to get this album in your hands. It will include live songs from all previous releases: Puya (1st self titled 1995), Fundamental (1998), Union (2001) and our newest (EP) Areyto (2010). These live tracks are smokin’ hot!

PUYA has been officially invited to headline one of the most important rock and alternative music festivals in all of Latin America, “Festival Patria Grande” in Cuba on November 2014. It is a huge honor for us to be a part of such an event! Due to its nature, Patria Grande is one of the most historic cultural exchanges in music. The invitation to perform in Cuba represents a big milestone for the band and for latin metal as well! You will make it possible for Puya to rock La Habana Cuba for the first time! This is a once in a lifetime chance! Your pledge will allow us to cover some necessary air fair/travel expenses for the band, and will allow PUYA to create a video documenting this epic visit to our sister island.
