Family have premiered a drum play-through video for their track “Floodgates”. The clip was directed and edited by bandleader Steven Gordon, with videography handled by Frank Huang. Gordon said of it:

“Our posse was forever, irrevocably changed the day we met ol’ Jody Smith. He seemed unassuming and innocent enough up front, but it was quickly apparent that this guy was the biggest maniac of us all. A brash, outspoken madman of a thousand nicknames, captain of the ping ride, werewolf killer to the utmost degree — Jocephus appeared right when we needed him and completely flipped the script on us, both musically and personally. Given my longtime affinity for rootsy funk music, finding a drummer from New Orleans as well-versed in the behind-the-beat grooves of Zigaboo from The Meters as the spastic technicality of Billy Rhymer from The Dillinger Escape Plan was unparalleled, and Jody’s raw distinctive style is all over Future History. I’ve been extremely fortunate to work with great drummers in this project, and although Family’s rhythmic landscape has already evolved exponentially with a mind-blowing new one (just wait ’til you guys get a glimpse of The Kid on our upcoming tour), in his tenure with the band Jody contributed dramatically to our collective’s sound and spirit. Keep an eye out for his thrash-prog group Beast Modulus’ new album dropping this fall… “

The song is off the group’s new full-length Family History, which is out now through Prosthetic Records and available for purchase at the label’s webstore, iTunes, Amazon, or Google Play. The band kicked off their North American tour in support of Future History yesterday, get the dates HERE.
