Band: Unburnt
Song: “Sorrow Bearing Enemy”
Album: Arcane Evolution EP
Release Date: August 16th, 2019
Label: Self-released
Vocalist Eric Burnet, also of Samskaras, commented:
“The sorrow-bearing enemy is a Buddhist concept. It represents the side of ourselves that relishes giving into our anger and negative impulses. It’s the part of us that laughs as we take the easiest path in a conflict and then look back on the ruin we’ve created. The song is about the every-day battle we all must engage in to be calm, peaceful, and rational in a chaotic world. It’s a celebration of that silent and invisible triumph that comes from overcoming your dark side. No one really notices that but you, but it’s one of the greatest victories you can experience.”
Speaking of the EP, the group offer:
“This EP combines themes of knowledge, technological change, and spirituality. It asks how these things intertwine and evolve through human society, as well as ponders what kind of future we’re headed towards at this rapid pace. The music itself goes to the heart of what we set out to create with Unburnt: punishing rhythms, melodic textures, and brutal vocals. If you enjoy death and black metal, this is sure to be up your alley.”
