Official press release:
Davey Muise, best known for his unparalleled vocal abilities in the post-hardcore group Vanna, is launching a brand new initiative today. A former school teacher, Muise lives his life by not only following his heart but by pursuing his passions without fear of judgement. He takes those passions and shares them with as many people as possible. For the last two years Muise has traveled to over 100 middle and high schools sharing his message of empowerment and overcoming adversity. He’s harnessed the lessons he’s learned from weathering the storms of depression, divorce, abandonment, and failure and uses them to help not only fuel his own flames but to inspire future generations to strive for a better life. Throughout his talks he delves into the pressing issues of anti-bullying, self-harm, and chasing one’s dreams. The powerful talks have been well-received and Muise coins his travels
“one of the best ways to spend time outside of music.”
Today, Muise is thrilled to introduce the Find Your Shovel initiative and brand launch. The campaign will be a collective for fans, students, and community to come together to share their stories and meet other like-minded individuals. Shovel Brand is set to mirror the messages Muise exudes in his speaking engagements and he hopes to promote the core ideals of never giving up, to find one’s own identity and be proud of who they are. Finding one’s shovel is never an easy task. Muise wants to offer a helping hand to those that need the guidance and support, by starting conversations with a purpose. Throughout the coming months Muise will launch a slew of new initiatives that will call upon the community to collectively come together and share their stories of how they found their shovel. More details to come soon!
In addition, Muise will be launching a string of merchandise for the initiative. With a fascination of all things merchandising, printing, and design, Muise crafted the idea to create his own brand with a good cause. The merchandise of Shovel Brand is about wearing the item with pride, believing in one’s self, and encouraging others around you. Muise continues:
“It’s about giving yourself armour to walk around the halls of your school, work, or home, giving you that extra boost you need to make it through the day. My hope is that by wearing these shirts, using these accessories will spark a conversation. What’s shovel? What does that mean? Why are you wearing it. You are wearing an introduction to yourself. You are now able to share what your shovel is, and be proud of what helps you thru life. It’s the same reason we get tattooed or dye our hair, we are expressing who and what we are to the world.”
For every purchase of a Shovel Brand item, Muise will be donating 20% to a facility near and dear to his heart, Preble Street Teen Center in Portland, Maine, located in his hometown. The money collected will go toward food, supplies, clothing, bedding, and any other needs the center may have. Muise hopes that with a donation he can see a change in his community and offer these individuals a life of success. Muise expands:
“It’s not reinventing the wheel, it’s t-shirts and accessories but it’s one more thing to maybe inspire hope in the youth I believe so strongly in. So wear yourself proud.”

Muise concludes:
“I’m encouraging everyone who buys Shovel Brand supplies to post pictures on social media platforms and share a little piece of what their shovel is and why. I’ll be re posting photos and stories on my blog so it reaches as many people as possible. Like I said it’s more than clothing, it’s a movement and the more people moving, the better. Be bold, be free, be you. Find your shovel and keep digging.”
