Official press release:
On Friday February 27th, Indianapolis, IN Fantasy-core band The Wise Man’s Fear partner with Theoria Records and announce their their upcoming EP Apocrypha with fierce new single “Die Alone”. The band reflects on the track below:
“Since our first album, our band has written stories about characters going on adventures that take place in fantasy worlds we’ve created. Now that our first record, Castle in the Clouds, is 10 years old we wanted to try something new – revisiting an old storyline to reveal extra chapters in a story that has been closed for a long time. We view these new songs as a sort of undiscovered, additional lore or Apocrypha to the main text of that story.
That album follows the allegorical endeavors of a nameless knight who is representative of all humankind as he searches for a fabled ‘castle in the clouds’ (a stand-in for the meaning of life). On this quest, he encounters a powerful foe named Chaotica who is the summation of all chaos and evil in the world, hellbent on preventing the knight from succeeding.
‘Die Alone’ is a manifesto delivered by Chaotica to the knight, challenging the strength of his spirit and sowing doubt in an attempt to erode his resolve. The song is packed with references to various tracks across Castle in the Clouds and is written to feel as punishing and brutal as Chaotica himself.”
