California’s The Animal In Me were recently in Orlando, FL on their The What Now! Tour. I was fortunate to attend and cover the show. Having now seen the band live I can say that the band’s music is matched by an equally powerful performance.
Still a relatively new band – they formed in 2011 as Deadlines And Diamonds before changing their name to The Animal In Me in 2012 – I can see them continue to rise in the coming years as they prepare to release their sophomore effort and follow-up to 2013’s Who’s Laughing Now.
A band with a strong work ethic and DIY attitude, they have self-produced all their releases to date (which includes two EPs and their aforementioned debut) and tour relentlessly, spreading their catchy brand of metalcore one city at a time. The band are also incredibly down to earth, hanging out with fans, with whom they constantly communicate on social media, and being genuine people. I definitely recommend that everyone check them out. I am certainly looking forward to hearing new material from this band and will definitely be there next time they roll through Central Florida.
