Legendary metallers Sepultura have scheduled their final batch of new music for release on April 24th. The four-track EP, titled The Cloud of Unknowing, will be released via Nuclear Blast Records. The first sample of the effort is now streaming with a lyric video for closing number, “The Place”, having debuted today. Speaking of the lyrical inspiration for the single, frontman Derrick Green offered:
“This song deals with immigrants who have come to a place seeking refuge and start a new life. Once assimilated into a false sense of security and relentless propaganda they began to act out against what they hate about themselves. The transition begins to escape from the self hatred and the lashing out against people who believed in the same ideas. I feel the lyrics truly follow the transitions of the song. Starting with disappointment and arriving at anger.”
The Cloud of Unknowing will serve as the group’s swansong, wrapping up a career that spanned four decades. Pre-orders are now live at this location.
This year will see the band’s final legs of a farewell tour. Their live plans will begin next month with a tour of Australia, followed by North American run with Exodus, Biohazard, and Tribal Gaze. Their itinerary wraps up with an overseas tour of Europe and the UK, which will feature a number of festival appearances. Find the complete list of dates below and get tickets here.
