Vocalist Wade Walters said of the single:
“This song is very dark in the way that the theme stems from being absolutely miserable and feeling stuck in a relationship that you can’t break free from no matter how hard you try or what you do.”
Regarding the record, Walters adds:
“During the process of writing the lyrics, I was skeptical about the amount of hate I put into my words, but then I started to think about how many people have been in the same situation and how many people could relate to the topic and know that they are not alone in their fight and that other people are going through the same thing.”
