“Lyrically, ‘Ruby’ is about yearning for and dreaming of the one that got away. Simultaneously, its lyrics also reflect the inevitable changes that come post-breakup, as we grow older and diverge from who we were while together.
The album title is pulled directly from ‘Ruby’s’ lyrics: ‘You wanna leave things, wanna leave it by a thread’. The metaphorical thread symbolizes a connection that won’t be completely severed, regardless of the physical and emotional distance that now exists. The emotive peak of the song references a quote from the manga Jujutsu Kaisen: ‘If you want to start anew, head north. If you want to return to your old self, head south’.”
