California post-hardcore outfit Dance Gavin Dance have been out on the road for a little over a month now on a headlining tour of North America. They recently returned to the Tampa Bay area to sold out show at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, FL. To say the night was electric is putting it mildly.

Opening was French metalcore out Novelists, who most recently put out an Audiotree Live EP. Their last album CODA was released last year. The Parisian quintet received a warm welcome from the crowd, delivering an energetic set. Wolf & Bear took the stage next. The California post-hardcore outfit are out in support of their third studio record, A Hill To Die On, which was released a week and a half ago. The band inspired some of the first crowd surfers of the night with great set that amped up fans further. Washington math/post-hardcore outfit The Fall of Troy followed to a raucous reception. If you didn’t know any better you’d think they were the headliner. A wave of crowd surfers erupted as the band tore through their set. Finally, the main attraction, Dance Gavin Dance took the stage to cheers and chants of “DGD!” as soon as the lights dimmer. They returned the crowd’s energy in kind with a blistering set of their math rock-infused post-hardcore that has cemented them as a major draw. They also recently released a new effort, dropped the third installment of their Tree City Sessions near the end of May.

The trek continues tonight at The Fillmore Charlotte in Charlotte, NC. As of last night HORSE the band has taken over direct support duties from The Fall of Troy. Novelists and Wolf & Bear carry on in their respective slots. For all remaining dates and tickets head over to this location.
