Orlando ambient alt-rockers Makari have signed with Thriller Records. On signing with the label, Makari shared:
“We’re very excited to be joining Thriller, and can’t wait to share all we’ve been working on together! We’ve been DIY for a bit, but it feels like we’ve found the right partnership and team that feels just as passionate about our work as we do. This is only the beginning, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.”
The band mark the occasion with the premiere of a brand new single titled “Speed Freak”. You can find the Evan Draper-directed video for the track below and download/stream it here. Speaking of the song, drummer Kevin Beljan comments:
“This song came from memories. This song came from fantasy. Or rather, this song was written somewhere in-between the two: remembering a California-sunset drive, a movie I watched with my dad, and a daydream I had of a world that both stood still and flew by my partner and I. ‘Speed Freak’ is my attempt to convey the exhilaration of profound and boundless love. It is an attempt to illustrate the beautiful, adrenaline-high of a scenic drive with the person you love—no worries about the danger, the speed, the sustainability of it all, just the desire to disappear from the world and all its suffering into the bending pinks and purples of the skyline with the person you chose at your side.”
