Norwich-based doom duo Kulk have joined the Church Road Records roster. Their first output through their new label-home is the single “Ache”. The track is available via all streaming platforms here. You can also hear it below. Speaking of the track, which features a guest spot by IAN cello player Hannah Asprey, the pair shared:
“‘Ache’, is not only for our friend Meg who we lost in 2023, it’s for all of us left behind. This track was the first we had written after she died and has opened our shows for a while now. ‘Ache’ describes living with grief after years. It’s not the immense pain of the first few days, but it’s ever present and consistent. Like a broken bone that hasn’t healed right, it has changed the way we move, act and think; always there never letting up.
It was also an honour to have Hannah Asprey, of the band IAN, perform a devastatingly beautiful cello feature.”
The group are currently working on the follow-up to their 2024 effort It Gets Worse. Stay tuned for additional news.
