Ice Nine Kills have released a new song titled “Enjoy Your Slay”. The track is based on Stephen King‘s classic The Shining following a fan-voted poll regarding what book to write a song about – the novel beat out Psycho. Frontman Spencer Charnas offered:
“It was a close race, but Stephen King‘s classic tale of the Overlook Hotel’s winter caretaker and his descent into madness emerged as the victor. Being huge fans of not only the novel, but also of Stanley Kubrick‘s brilliant film adaptation, we knew in order for the song to work we would need to capture the unnerving isolation and traumatizing scenes of horror that occurred on those 447 pages and 144 minutes of film.”
The song also features a guest appearance by Sam Kubrick – grandson of director Stanley Kubrick, who directed the 1981 adaptation of the novel. Kubrick is no stranger to heavy music, as he has his own band called Shields. “Enjoy Your Slay” is available as a digital single on iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon.
