Bursting out of Baltimore, MD, Erode is making hardcore that’s dark and chaotic. Formed in 2022, the band put out a self-titled EP that same year followed by a three song promo in 2023. Now the band announces the full-bodied Devout set for release July 18th through DAZE. The album was recorded with Matt Redenbo at Magpie Cage, mixed by Andy Nelson at Bricktop, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.
Single “Coiled” serves as an excellent precursor to the record, packed with graveling vocals and sinister riffs. Drawing influence from bands like 100 Demons, Morbid Angel, and Kickback, there’s a looming sense of darkness to the track, from the stompy breakdown to the lyrics. The recurring lyrical themes across the album are overtly negative, navigating through disillusionment, addiction, pride, and depravity, and “Coiled” centers in on bonding through dysfunction.

Erode will hit the road with Sinister Feeling and Eyez Wide Shut in early August, kicking of with a record release show on August 1st at Holy Frijoles in Baltimore. Full dates below.
