Seth “Shifty Shellshock” Binzer, frontman of rap-rock/nü-metal outfit Crazy Town has passed away at the age of 49. According to the L.A. County Medical Examiner, Binzer died at his home on Monday, June 24th. A cause of death has yet to be revealed.
The group found success in the early 2000’s with the release of their debut album The Gift of Game. Their sophomore effort, Dark Horse (2002), failed to garner the same hype and was followed by the band disbanding. The group reformed in 2007 and in 2015, released their third and final album, The Brimstone Sluggers.
Binzer had a history of substance abust, appearing on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab and Sober House between the year’s 2008 and 2009. In March of 2012 he was admitted to a hospital after losing consciousness. He was briefly in a coma from which he awoke and was later released from the hospital. Last year, Binzer was arrested for DUI in Myrtle Beach, SC.
He is survived by three children.
