Cave In have announced that their new studio record, Final Transmission, will arrive on June 7th via Hydra Head Records. The effort features the final recordings of bassist Caleb Scofield, who tragically passed away on March 28th of last year in a car accident; he performed on all tracks. Half the proceeds from the album will go to Caleb’s wife and children. Final Transmission was mixed by Andrew Schneider and mastered by James Plotkin. Guitarist/vocalist Steve Brodsky said of receiving the final mixes:
“Getting these mixes back was really hard. I don’t think I’ve cried so much putting together any record. I’ve definitely felt like bursting into tears while I was working on things, but this was actual water being shed. I don’t try to look too deeply into how these things work, but these recordings are some of our last moments spending time with him.”
The first single off the album, titled “All Illusion”, has debuted online and can be heard below. Final Transmission can be pre-ordered today by territory via the following links:
