Official press release:
Wisconsin blackened doom metallists’ Bereft are excited to announce plans to enter the studio in early May to begin recording material for their debut full-length release, expected out later this Fall via Prosthetic Records.
Consisting of Zach Johnson and Alex Linden on guitars/vocals and bassist Cade Gentry, will make the trek to Backroom Studios in Dover, NJ to begin tracking with producer Kevin Atlassian (Dillinger Escape Plan) on May 17. The trio have also enlisted drummer Michael Kadnar (Downfall of Gaia, Black Table) to lend a hand in the studio while they continue their search for a full-time drummer.
Gentry commented:
“We’re beyond excited to be working with Michael and Kevin and to finally get these songs recorded. This record will be heavier, louder, and bigger and we can’t wait for everyone to hear these songs.”
Bereft’s previous EP, Lost Ages, featured “chilling crystalline guitar melodies” with “post-rock passages at a beefy, sludge-ridden pace” (CVLT Nation) and was released by War Crime/Silent Pendulum Recordings. The band has since then been seen across the U.S. playing with acts including
Agalloch, Gloom, Downfall of Gaia, So Hideous and North.
