Avenged Sevenfold have released a music video for their new song “Mad Hatter”. The video features a look at the zombie mode of the upcoming game, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4. The song is the latest in a collaboration between the group and video game series. Vocalist M. Shaodws commented on the song and the group’s relationship with the video game’s producer Treyarch, saying:

“Watching the initial trailers and looking at production sketches [for the video game] reminded me of the ‘S-Town’ podcast and its main protagonist, John B. McLemore, who was rumored to have suffered from mercury poisoning, or Mad Hatter disease.

The idea of Mad Hatter and what it does to the brain is as frightening as the images we were shown. So I decided that the lyrics would shadow McLemore’s life. The result is a thick-grooved song that’s dynamic and has a weightiness to it.

We have a very deep relationship with the team at Treyarch. We’re proud to be part of the family and extremely excited for people to enjoy this next chapter and our contribution to it.”

Today, the band released a compilation EP of those songs titled Black Reign. Black Ops 4, on the other hand, is slated for release on October 12th.

Black Reign EP track listing:

“Mad Hatter”
