Asking Alexandria’s new record The Black – the band’s first with new vocalist Denis Stoff (ex-Make Me Famouse, ex-Down & Dirty) – is officially out today on Sumerian Records. With it also comes a full stream of what I think is a pretty solid album. It doesn’t sound forced, like the band are trying to prove anything. The Black packs a punch, it has melody, hooks, and is well produced. The only statement Asking Alexandria are making with this album is that they’re determined to continue making tunes that rock; whether it’s a riff-driven track like the properly titled “Just A Slave To Rock n’ Roll” or a softer, more ballad-y song like “Send Me Home”. But that’s just me, give it a spin for yourself below and draw your own conclusions. If you like what you hear you can get yourself a copy through MerchNOW, iTunes, Amazon, or Google Play.
