Official press release:
Out of Reading, UK emerges a new post-blackened progressive death metal outfit by the name of Asira. This week, the group announced that their debut LP Efference is set to hit stores on April 7th. Additionally, the group are streaming their first single off the album, “Crucible Of Light”; listen below courtesy of Terrorizer. Frontman Jack Reynolds said of it:
“‘Crucible Of Light’ is a musical love letter to the Sun. Our aim was to create a song that contained many familiar elements of black metal, but fill it with colour, brightness and melody. This is a celebration of warmth and intensity, crafted to fill the listener with elation and energy.
Shimmering arpeggios and synths provide a musical backdrop inspired by the sheer vastness of space, overlaid with euphoric harmony mirroring sunlight and it’s regular passage across our celestial sphere. The pop-informed structure and the chorus’ melodic hooks share breathing space with the rawer, abrasive elements of black metal. A climactic ending relates flickers of astral consciousness with the irrevocable embrace of the Sun’s heat.
As the first song from our debut album Efference, ‘Crucible of Light’ is a statement of intent. It punctuates the start of a diverse metal experience, brimming with a healthy disregard for genre convention.”
“Crucible Of Light” is available as a digital single now via the group’s Bandcamp.
